Triangle Transit is a regional public transportation provider, offering a wide variety of transit and vanpool services to North Carolina’s greater Triangle Region and outlying counties. Bus service is available to Apex, Cary, Chapel Hill, Durham, Garner, RDU International Airport, RTP and Raleigh. Triangle Transit’s Paratransit Service is a shared-ride service with modern, accessible vehicles for people with disabilities who are unable to use Triangle Transit buses. The Triangle Transit also provides commuter resources and hosts GoTriangle.org, an on-line resource for the public transportation information in the Triangle.

Triangle Transit is seeking customer service oriented individuals to fill immediate openings for both Full Time and Part Time fixed route Bus Operators. Interested candidates should plan to attend our Open House on Monday, August 23rd. Interviews will be held on site for qualified applicants.

Our Bus Operators are friendly, and courteous, and pride themselves in operating their assigned vehicle in a safe, reliable, and professional manner while being patient, and displaying the willingness to assist all passengers. Candidates who wish to join our team must have a clean driving record and have or be able to obtain a Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement. A minimum of six years driving experience, with a good driving record is required. Prior bus or heavy vehicle driving experience is preferred, but we will provide training for individuals with excellent communication skills, outstanding customer service ability, and who enjoys daily interactions with the public. A Department of Transportation physical and drug screening will be required for successful candidates.

Triangle Transit’s starting pay is $12.00 an hour; rate of pay increases with fare box experience. We offer full time employees comprehensive benefits including paid training, paid medical insurance and retirement, and uniforms (provided).

Bus Operator.

Triangle Transit is currently recruiting for a Full Time Bus Operator position. Triangle Transit Bus Operators transport passengers over specified distant points according to a set time schedule. The Bus Operator I should operate the assigned vehicle in a safe, reliable, and professional manner while being courteous, patient, and displaying the willingness to assist all passengers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Abides by all safety and traffic regulations/laws as well as company policy/procedures.

• Properly completes all required paperwork to include time cards, passenger counts, pre/post-inspection checks, accident reports, and other applicable forms/reports.

• Dresses in appropriate uniform and maintains a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.

• Answers passenger questions politely and accurately, to include questions about directions, schedules, and fares.

• Exhibits knowledge of the fare box procedures, collects the proper fare, and issues fare media.

• Ensures passengers’ ride is comfortable and safe.

• Provides assistance to individuals as needed.

• Knows all emergency procedures and reports all accidents, emergencies, and incidents immediately.

• Knows and maintains proper radio procedures/protocol.

• Knows and abides by all ADA transit requirements.

• Keeps current on the operation of all service routes.

• Cleans vehicle as required.

• Knows and adheres to policies/rules and procedures pertaining to overall employment.

• Works in cooperation with other employees.

• Performs other Bus Operator duties as required by the Dispatcher or other Regional Bus Service Supervisors.

Part Time Customer Service Representative .

Triangle Transit is currently recruiting for a Part Time Customer Service Representative for our Regional Call Center. This position is responsible for answering calls and information requests from the general public for the Regional Call Center. Hours for this position will be Saturday and Sunday and 10+ hours during the week. Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

•Provide information for the public regarding local transit services, programs, and schedules.

•Provides information to the public regarding paratransit and ridesharing services.

•Answer incoming calls in a friendly, helpful manner via a multi-line phone system and provide information to the public at the Customer Service window.

•Sell Regional fare media using a computerized cash register system; process cash, check and credit card purchases; process daily reports for purchases.

•Mail schedules upon request.

•Track service complaints and perform other record keeping tasks.

•Process online purchases of regional fare media and other promotional items sold on the website.

•Maintains proper inventory of published service brochures.

•Operates all types of office equipment as needed including a Simplex Cash Drawer.

•Perform other duties as assigned and requested.

This position requires a High school diploma or equivalent with one year of related customer service experience. English/Spanish bilingual skills are preferred. The successful candidate will have the ability to work both in a team environment and independently. Scheduled call center representatives are required to work during adverse weather conditions.
