Newman Center Bus Stop in Chapel Hill Closed

The Triangle Transit bus stop on Pittsboro Street at the Newman Center will be closed (beginning Thursday, January 21st) for approximately the next eighteen (18) months due to construction. A temporary bus stop is located at 210 Pittsboro Street (News Services Building) near the intersection of Cameron Avenue.

The right hand lane of Pittsboro Street (beyond the temporary bus stop to McCauley Street) will be closed. The left hand lane will remain open during this time. Triangle Transit routes may experience schedule delays as a result of the lane closure. Triangle Transit will make every attempt to maintain schedules but is advising customers to expect delays and to allow extra travel time.

Bus Stop Impacts Due to Hillsborough Street Construction

Belltower Bus Stop Re-Opened!

The new bus stop on Hillsborough St at the NCSU belltower is now open. The new stop is located on the east side of the intersection of Hillsborough St and Watauga Dr (see map below).

Stops Unavailable on Eastbound Hillsborough Street:

Due to construction, Triangle Transit will be unable to serve the following stops on eastbound Hillsborough St (traveling towards downtown Raleigh).

  • Hillsborough St at Gardner St
  • Hillsborough St at Horne St

Riders wishing to catch the bus on eastbound Hillsborough Street should go to the temporary stop at Brooks Street (see map below). This change will be in effect until further notice.

Stop at Gardner Street Moved:

Due to construction, the bus stop on westbound Hillsborough St at Gardner St (traveling toward RTP) will be temporarily moved one block to Hillsborough Street & Brooks Street (see map below). This change will be in effect until further notice.
